5 Islands for Sale in Indonesia

1. Dekar Island ($4,500,000)

Link to original listing

  • Location: Mengkait, South Siantan
  • Size: 66 acres
  • Description: 26km SW of Terempa, Approx 41km SW of Medco E&P Natuna Ltd. Airport
  • Ownership: Leasehold
  • Development: Non Developed
  • Map: See on Google Earth

Dekar, the island paradise, offers three palm-lined beaches to the North and majestic granite outcrops to the South, making it an ideal location for a tropical eco-development. The island is surrounded by rich coral fields teeming with tropical sea life.

One unique feature is a 400m-high granite outcrop to the west, perfect for unique resort facilities, points of interest, or potentially over 400m of overwater villas (subject to approvals) with direct access to the coral reefs below. Shallow corals to the North and South provide additional protection for overwater structures.

Dekar’s lower gradient from the Northern beaches allows for forest villas among the tropical canopy and its birdlife. With sunrise views over Telebang Island 800m away and stunning sunsets over calm tropical waters, Dekar Island offers an exquisite tropical experience. It is suitable for multiple resorts, a large multizoned resort, or subdivision.

2. Pulau Jantai ($3,000,000)

Link to original listing

  • Location: Natuna Islands, Riau Islands (South China Sea)
  • Size: ~4.9 acres, 2 hectares
  • Description: 15km S of Ranai Airport, 20km S of Ranai town
  • Ownership: Leasehold
  • Development: Undeveloped
  • Map: See on Google Earth

Some islands have a beach. Jantai has a shoreline, an unbroken ring of white sand circling the whole island, with dense green forest held at its centre.

Two hectares of undeveloped land sit on their own shallow reef shelf, the pale water around the island giving way to deep blue a short distance offshore. The scale suits a single boutique retreat or a small cluster of villas: large enough for privacy and separation, compact enough that the entire island reads as one property.

What sets Jantai apart is access. Ranai airport lies just 15 kilometres north, with the regency capital a little beyond, remarkably close for an island this untouched, and rare among Indonesia’s outer archipelagos.

The Natuna Islands are among the country’s least-developed destinations, known for dramatic granite formations, empty beaches and exceptionally clear water in the South China Sea. Jantai is a genuine blank canvas in a region tourism has barely begun to reach.

3. Temawan Island (Price Upon Request)

Link to original listing

  • Location: Siantan, Anambas Islands, Riau Islands
  • Size: ~4.9 acres, 2 hectares
  • Description: 11km E of Terempa, 17km SSE of Matak Airport
  • Ownership: Leasehold
  • Development: Undeveloped
  • Map: See on Google Earth

Eleven kilometres east of Terempa, Temawan is the most accessible island in this Anambas collection, close enough to the archipelago’s main town for a short boat transfer, far enough to be entirely your own.

It is a small island: two hectares, low and level, rising no more than ten metres. That simplicity is the appeal. There is no difficult terrain to engineer around and no scale demanding a commercial operation. Temawan suits a single private compound, a family retreat or a handful of villas, built lightly on a flat and workable site.

Sunrise and sunset are both visible across open water, and the island sits inside the same 1.2 million hectare marine park that surrounds the whole archipelago, with reef and clear water directly offshore.

For a buyer who wants an Indonesian island without a development programme attached, something to build once and simply enjoy, Temawan is the most straightforward proposition in the Anambas.

4. Ujung Island (Price Upon Request)

Link to original listing

  • Location: Siantan, Anambas Islands, Riau Islands
  • Size: ~428.7 acres, 173.5 hectares
  • Description: 30km S of Terempa, 45km S of Matak Airport, 317km NE of Singapore
  • Ownership: Leasehold
  • Development: Developed
  • Map: See on Google Earth

At 173 hectares, Ujung is the largest island in this Anambas collection, an estate-scale landholding of a kind that rarely reaches the open market anywhere in Southeast Asia.

The island rises to 40 metres, high enough for elevated outlooks and varied building platforms, yet gentle enough that the great majority of its area remains genuinely usable. Both sunrise and sunset are visible from the island, which on a landmass this size means an entire resort can be oriented either way, or both.

Ujung lies about 30 kilometres south of Terempa, the archipelago’s main town, and 45 kilometres from Matak airport.

At this scale the conversation is no longer about a private retreat. Ujung is a destination-sized site, with room for multiple resort zones, a village of villas, conservation areas and marina infrastructure inside a single boundary, in an archipelago that is only now opening to international tourism.

5. Buan Island (Price Upon Request)

Link to original listing

  • Location: Tiangau, South Siantan
  • Size: 210 acres
  • Description: 23km S of Terempa, Approx 37km S of Medco E&P Natuna Ltd. Airport
  • Ownership: Leasehold
  • Development: Non Developed
  • Map: See on Google Earth

Prime multi-resort development site with zoning, offering panoramic sunrise and sunset views, and subdivision potential.

The Buan North Beaches on Buan Island, in the Siantan Seletan subdistrict, cover 42 hectares. This expansive site features three captivating beachfront sections, elevated terrains, and a lagoon area frequented by leatherback turtles grazing on shallow seagrasses to the West.

The site can be easily subdivided into separate resort sections, maintaining ample separation. It offers substantial building envelopes for various development styles, including elevated forest outlooks, beachfront properties, and overwater villas, each distinct and private.
